Nope you are wrong! In an interview that IGN had recently with DeeJ and Urk, he said that you will start TTK at your current light level. If you want to be a level 20 equip blue gear. If you want to be level 30 equip a VoG set

He asked if he would keep his level and DeeJ said "you're good to go." He never said you would keep your light level. In fact, he said light level will be separate from player level.
