Thats kinda what we already have its just in out stat tree not our armor.

True. I guess I wish the armor stat was more relevant. I can't say I've seen a difference whether I have low or high armor

It matters a little bit in pvp, max armor will allow you to tank a tripmine grenade, two thorn headshots and even a shoulder charge.
