No one said we're going to 20, you are assuming.
Show me with a link to proof that Bungie said going from light levels to XP would make us all 20.
You do realize that even though that big number stopped at 20, your XP has continued to accrue in the back ground.

well if you remove all your light level gear, what level are you?

Under the NEW system that uses XP not light, who knows? But no one knows for sure we'll drop to 20. The BEST guess is we'll all drop to various levels between 20 and 30 - 35 based on total time in game.

I don't have a link to it, but I remember seeing a screenshot of someone in crucible leveling up to 36. I don't have proof so you don't have to believe me, but I know what I saw.

OP is just talking out his ass. Common sense and logic would say that we continue on the last level we played at.
