False, we will most likely go back to level 20 ( where we are now minus light level) and we will have to use our acquired armor and weapons until we get past level 34 enemies because they will still be usable up until that point, we don't immediately get new gear, you'll still be able to use your old weapons, just not on the end game level 40 content

Sadly, that's what I was trying to find again when I posted this--it was posted by a user who asked the question this morning. It's been rumored that we will be able to boost one character up to a level, it hasn't been confirmed if this is true, to how many characters we can do it to, or to what level it will boost us

Well we have all been level 20, our light level has been higher buy they are getting rid of that so theoretically, yes, but they won't have any of our year one gear meaning they will be at a disadvantage for a longer period

Not true, was fatebringer useless when the dark below was out? No, it was still usable and even good at times, it will be the same way with TTK until we get ahold of the new gear, then, if we so choose we can leave behind year one gear and use the new gear, they aren't just handing out year two gear as soon as we boot up the expansion
