Warthogs are you biggest ally in that mission.
Never send a lot of units at the same time, small squads with enough firepower is enough, locusts are your biggest problem so deal with those first.
After dealing with the power batteries of the scarab keep sending squads to take it down and keep the warthogs moving even if the laser detects them, use a small portion of those warthogs to distract the scarab while keeping the other portion alive shooting at it.

What about the horde of locusts and hunters that attack your base mid-way through the fight? That's what kills me every single time.
-
True, warthogs don't take a lot of space so don't fill the whole unit count with them, maybe have some anti-vehicle and anti-infantry units around like Scorpions and cobras. Make those turrets anti infatry since There are more hunters around than locusts.
-
Yeah I've tried that. Hunters and locusts are anti vehicle and building killers respectively so they destroy any defenses I have. I'll just have to keep trying. Does the locust/hunter assault ever stop or is it endless?
-
As long as the scarab is still alive they will keep coming, hunters have always been a pain in the ass so that's why i prefer to kill those first.
-
Oh man, that sounds terrible. Even with the skulls that help me, those hunters still kick my ass. And it doesn't help that the locusts can snipe from outside of combat range. Thanks for the tips though, I'll definitely try it your way.
