A single spartan II took 3 halo rings, killed the flood, and saved earth. Which spartans were in ghosts of onyx I can't remember? I II or IV? Because like 300 of them died for a single planet that they failed at, and more of them died to sentinels later on in the next generation, at least the like 4 surviving spartan II's get stuff done.

The ones at onyx weren't s2 or s4. They were s3. Spartan III have lighter armor with no shielding and their augmentations are significantly weaker than those of the other Spartan generations. They are known to have great numbers and are sent on suicide missions far behind enemy lines. Spartan IVs are just as strong as SIIs, but lack the training and experience (and weren't bred for war). They do however have much better technology than their predecessors.
