I thought pirates were gonna attack at the end. I was legitimately surprised by the ending. Nice work, it really puts a touch of realism to the City we have spent so long protecting but never exploring.
*Edit*
Not really a complaint, just a bit of info that might be used for even better stories.
I read a description from a gun in Destiny that spoke of an Exo who could taste velocity. The Exo's favorite flavor was 1 kilometer per second. So apparently Exos can taste in addition to see and hear. Without smell, taste is lessened so I assume they can also smell. The only sense remaining is touch. Since Exos can wield guns with great dexterity, I assume they also have some kind of touch sensors in their hands and perhaps even over their whole body. After all, they are not just made in Humanity's image, but are actually made from humans. That is why they have gender differences as well as traits unnecessary for combat even though they are war machines.

It makes me happy that others beside myself are becoming truly invested in Destiny. Maybe not so much the game, but the Idea and Story. You are correct, the idea behind their anatomy is that they are ever bit as human as you or me, aside from their flesh. The idea behind his lack of feeling the light is similar to that of Cortana. While she herself is a clone of human DNA melded with technology, able to feel emotions, think independently, and interact with the world around her (hyper-intelligently), she could never experience the warmth of the sun the way we do. I think your right in the fact that Exos can feel, I just wanted to convey the idea that it isn't the same as it is for humans. That small trade-off for eternal life seeming unfair when you live without it. I do appreciate feedback, so please, keep letting me know what comes to mind after your read. And I wouldn't be entirely sure about pirates....

I totally understand why you chose to write it the way you did, it added flavor to the way Exos deal with their own strange immortality. I really liked it and if I had never read that gun's description, I wouldn't have anything to say other than praise as I have no problem with the story details as they are. I didn't even remember the gun until later through retrospect, thus why I edited my post. One thing I would like to find out about Exos is, can they eat organic food like Data from Star Trek? Or can they only taste without a mechanical stomach to store anything, which seems a waste even if they are human. I have been writing my own story for all 3 of my characters and I have been thinking about how my Exo could stand around in the Tower and watch other guardians do "Human" things like eating/drinking, enjoying the embrace of a biological lover, or dreaming while sleeping. I would imagine this would lead to deep melancholy about the lack of these things in his life. Another interesting thing to note about Exos based on dialogue from the Gunsmith, is that the number after their names seems to indicate the number of times they have been reset. This might be good info to use for future stories about Exos, as this also contributes to their existential crises and emotional strife.

That I did not know. The part where you mentioned their number correlates back to the number of times they have been reset. I will remember that for future reference and will try to work that into the stories somehow so more people learn about it. I think that if you were to write a story that exhibits those aspects of daily life and individual thought as they pertain to your Guardians, you would really have something going for you there. There are others who have attempted to do so, but their writing style makes it hard to stay interested and invested in the story. You should give it a shot though! I would love to read something like that, especially a story that is well written with those qualities.
