When you have bright static colors with white and yellow being the worse, the retention is not a ghost image like normal retention, it's a dark area on the screen. The reason why is that you are using up the phosphors that make bright white much more quickly then the rest of the screen. And as all Screens age they get darker. It takes a lot of varied content over a long period of time to even it out.
