  • Tim Longo, the creative director of Halo 5, was actually the creative director for Republic Commado and created these tactical squad-based mechanics. He was working on Republic Commando 2 when the project was shut down, at which point 343 hired him because they wanted to add this layer to Halo's gameplay formula. This couldn't have worked out better. :P
