Honestly we should send people right away off possible. It will take them long time, but if possible then they could start colonizing should it be empty.

Edited by The Cellar Door: 7/25/2015 10:55:26 PMWe don't have the technology to do that, it would be a suicide mission. I see you saying "you know just to try it, you know what I mean?" And contrary to popular belief, NASA isn't about just shooting shit up into space and seeing what happens. They do things that are actually going to benefit us. And I'm not even being a NASA sympathizer, literally by law they cannot conduct any business without some intent of benefitting the general public.
-
Yhea it's pretty much a suicide. That's why I said volunteer
-
Why? We dont know enough that would likely be a huge waste of time and resources.
-
If we left today traveling at the speed of light (which can't be done) the year would be 3415 when we finally got there.
-
Edited by ReignofSpartain: 7/25/2015 3:45:59 PMYhea but it's worth a try know what I mean? In case we all die on earth we have already sent a pod of survival like an ark
-
The way space travel is now, I just can't see it happening and here's why. First, we can't travel at the speed of light because for something to reach that speed, it has to be massless. Even if we could reach that speed, we'd have to supply astronauts with 1400 years worth of everything, unless they were kept in stasis of some sort. I do see your point.
-
Yes I mean use stasis and send them out like they did for pluto. Thrust just runs on propulsion. It would take a long time but I feel safer securing the survival of our species if we send maybe two such craft. Both at different times so in case one gets damage along the way. And volunteer only

:( so stupid

New Horizons was unmanned

Edited by Willdahbeest: 7/25/2015 12:40:24 PMIts far enough away that if we sent something now, with technological advances, we would have another faster ship passing it before it even got close. Might as well wait.

Yhea but it's worth a try know what I mean? In case we all die on earth we have already sent a pod of survival like an ark
-
So -blam!-ing dumb
-
It's 1400 light years away, going the speed of light it would take you 1400 years to get to it, or something like that
-
Yhea but it's worth a try know what I mean? In case we all die on earth we have already sent a pod of survival like an ark
-
Just stop
-
Lol what
-
Edited by Hus: 7/25/2015 1:16:45 PM1400 years if we have a ship that travels at the speed of light (which we don't), the fastest ship used so far is the New Horizons which reached Pluto in 10 years, basically, the fastest ship we have won't get there before 20 million years. Soooooooo

You copy paste the same thing over and over while people constantly disapprove of it with actual points.

Zzz it was just an idea or thought and everyone has to be so technical. Obviously I have no say in what they do, but god dam it's just an idea didn't know it would have people either misunderstand my post or people saying what we can or can't do. I am fully aware of what we can do. It's just a strech of an idea and if it was ever capable in future why not the possibility explored. I didn't mean to do it this very day, just what we should do (my opinion) jeez
