Even though it's a stupid skill, level up Adaptability because it increases your i-frames and how quickly you chug estus.
Did you get SotFS? If you did I found it easier because there's a lot more NPC summons than what it used to have. So help is everywhere.

No dlc yet, maybe later though. I haven't really started yet (at the first bonfire) as I've either been busy or too tired. Was going to play when I got home, but I'm feeling a bit lethargic.

Scholar of the First Sin is the "next gen" version of Dark Souls 2. Updated graphics etc, new enemies and enemy placements and NPCs and crap. The first bonfire near the old women? Explore every fog door in the next part, and then fully explore your central hub in the part after that (Majula). From there there's two paths to take but you can find out which one to take for yourself xD
