I understand why Gally should be nerfed though I disagree with the reason Bungie put forward.
I'd have nerfed it because it basically turns on easy mode for all PvE content and I doubt Bungle wanted the most challenging content to be finished in a matter of seconds by teams who all have Gally. People who say "just make content harder" are missing the big picture, IMO, because, if you make content harder just so Gally isn't ridiculously OP, you'd then make all other weapons underpowered for that same content.
The fact they say they only nerfed it because of elitism in LFG (which is the only reason I've seen) is baffling when adding MM would circumvent all elitism in LFG and yet they don't even appear to think that's an option.

Couldn't have put it better. Lack of matchmaking is the issue here. There will always be an optimal loadout for each pve activity, like pvp, and so the people who currently want ghorn only will just want something else if it's better. Given how dead set against matchmaking bungie are, the other solution would be to announce a ghorn quest or that xur will sell it for 150 coins on a specific date in a months time, allowing people to grind coins (or rewarding those who have played enough to already have that many coins in the vault). I prefer the latter option for two reasons: 1 the forum would explode 2 if even half the people who threatened to quit if xur sells ghorn actually do then the community will be a better place

If Gally is nerfed into oblivion, something else will just supplant it as the "must have to melt the boss" weapon and that weapon will then become the requirement for people on LFG sites (though I believe Gally will still be the most powerful weapon, people will just want more of them). Nerfing Gally does nothing to solve the problems of elitism in LFG so I'm baffled why Bungie would put that forwards as a reason for nerfing it in the first place.
