Are we going to be able to ascend gear in TTK?
Going to keep bumping this until we get a straight answer. There's got to be other people out there who want to know about this as well.
I don't care if it requires some long quest chain or a new material, but are we going to have the ability to upgrade our weapons/armor of choice?
If not, I probably won't buy TTK to be honest. If Bungie isn't creative enough to make new weapons that are just as good as the old ones, and therefore arbitrarily makes all of the "past" weapons obsolete, then they don't deserve another dime from me anyways.
I feel like it would be pretty ridiculous for them to let us ascend gear less than two months ago, and then take away that ability a couple months later. Why tease us with the ability to make our weapons/gear current again, just to take it all away a few months later? We better be able to ascend gear too, because it would be just as stupid to acquire all of this ToO gear just to have it become unusable/obsolete several months later.
Most of the gear in this game looks like crap. If I can't ascend the pieces I want to wear and am forced to wear the (probably) terrible-looking gear coming out for TTK, then that's even more of a reason for me to quit.

I and so many others worked so hard getting full trials armor for every character and all the adept trials weapons and they wanna do this shit. Fking bullsh*t man.

1 ReplyThe nightfall will be bumped up a few levels, we'll be able to ascend our gear with something from TTK. We might be able to reach the new level by ascending old gear to year two levels. whether we need etheric light or the new ascension item from ttk to do that who knows.

I fail to see any point to this thread. With TDB, only exotics were updatable to current standards. The update also reset the item. For HOW, all legendary and exotics are updatable, which bungie termed ascending, using etheric light, and the item doesn't reset. Your question of IF is already answered. The question is, "Will every expansion have a different method of ascending, or is etheric light the permanent method?"

Agreed, im gonna wait till a week in to "think" about buying, but if they dont address the servers its all for nothing. It was a decent year. Got my moneys worth out of year one, dont foresee that in year 2.

2 RepliesI doubt it. This weapons "rebalance" all but guarantees we won't be ascending stuff. They need us to buy the new stuff so they're making our current stuff obsolete. I'm so tired of being disappointed by this game. I know everyone cries wolf, but I might be done with Destiny. I don't know yet. I'm sad though because I loved Destiny.

Where getting a whole new leveling system . just like all the other dlc's. Bungie needs to find a system and stay with it.

1 Replythis is what i want for my armors (the sets i did for my characters, especially with my hunter, look great for me). no big deal about weapons. i use new ones most of the time. i even ascended LOTP and NL shadow scout rifles. i'm even thinking of ascending that ill will hand cannon just for kicks. regarding armors, if i cant ascend them, time to move on to another game. no day-1 purchase of ttk for me.

On a few occasions Iv heard where bungie makes it sound like they won't let us, they want to make our guns and or armor obsolete so we use their new gear.. Which is OK as long as it's not like the junk they gave us for house of wolves. Well, it's what Iv heard other people say that bungie had said or implied.
