Well the origins of the Flood are known, and the Flood only infect sentient lifeforms. They're quite different, especially when you take their respective control structures into consideration.

Ok, i don't know everything exactly about both the flood and the necromorphs as i never read the flood origins and never played dead space more than twice at a friend's house
