My younger brother left to boot camp and is on his way to be a guardian/SEAL. AMA
He's already pre qualified for buds. He signed up with the intentions of being a seal. He's been training for a year. Only Batman and Captain America are in better Physical/Mental Health.
Was thinking I'd get more questions about how it feels to have family enter the service and things like that.
To all the hoes acting like hoes, my bro is a guardian just like the rest of us so lay off.

I will let you know now that even though he is fit and prepared, he is in fact not. Nothing can prepare him for what is to come. You can train in order to be fit enough the shit you have to do is unimaginable to anyone who is not already serving. Don't forget he is also competing against people who have served for a while too. He will be fresh but also lacking in the experience section. We have direct entry for commandos where I am from. You go from civilian, to basic training, to school of infantry, then advanced soldiering before partaking in the SF entry test and then commando selection course which is/was 6 weeks. MASSIVE fail rate. Training and being for is one thing. But pushed physically to your limit non-stop without sleep for days is something he can look forward too. Should he progress he will eventually encounter hell week. Few make it through that.

10 RepliesScream at him like Sergeant Hartman when he gets back. Also, isn't being a SEAL supposed to be very secretive?
-
13 RepliesBoot camp sucked. The food they feed you there, well let's just say when I was finally able to poop, it looked like little rabbit pellets. Not to mention the double Dragon and pinkeye out break. Smh.

Passing SEAL school is seriously tough. One of the guys I was in the fire department with ended up leaving to become a SEAL and got all the way through. From the stories I have heard from him anyone who makes an attempt at SEAL School has my respect.

1 Replydudebro mentality, your examples are flawed. batman and captain america are f**ed up mentally.
-
1 ReplyDestiny sucks, but your brother is solid.
-
I wanted to join up too when I was a freshman, but I decided against it. Best of luck to him. Can't imagine the kind of challenges he'll have to go through. Mentally and physically. There's no shame though if he doesn't make it, so long as he gives it his all.

4 RepliesI think there is a 70% wash out rate, so statistically your brother is almost guaranteed to drop out.
-
Congrats.
-
3 RepliesHope he makes it,if he fails he becomes navy needs.....and you don't wanna be navy needs
-
7 RepliesHoorah! Tell him good luck! I'm former Navy, normal Navy haha. I was a Gunnersmate and worked on some missile launchers, 3" and the 5". Got out after 8. Coronado's a nice place. That's where the Seal were when I was in. Gotta love sunny San Diego.

13 RepliesTell him he's fighting for corruption and you're a pegboy.
-
4 RepliesIs he a master guardian or a silver 3?
-
Trained for a month with SEAL/EOD guys last summer before being picked up for aviation instead. He chose a great community, and I really hope he pushes through. Best of luck to him.

2 RepliesYou're never mentally prepared for war. I don't care who you are, but Godspeed to your brother.

Trust me bro there's nothing more honourable than defending your country that's my job after all I miss my family when I go to the barracks I stay there for months only to comeback for a one day vacation but hey the army changes ppl and the most important thing in the army is loyalty you should be proud of your brother his not just doing it for himself his doing it for the country he worships and the family he loves that's what makes the soldier brave and that's the reason we ready ourselves for war to defend those beliefs.Hope you see your brother soon and be proud to have a SEAL member in your home.

3 RepliesIsn't being a seal supposed to be a secret or something?
-
4 RepliesBuds has like a 98% fail/dropout rate. And when it's over you still have 6 months of the world's most intense combat training that can wash you out. That's the reason why there's like 100 or less of the dudes at any given time. Best of luck to your bro. I hope he likes cold water.
