Well to use WoW as a reference.. you're either a tank, healer, or DPS. And with that in mind.. you're either going to be told to 'tank the boss', 'heal the tanks' or 'dps the boss'. Seems a lot easier to say than.. "I need you to just be out of the way of the tanks and not blocking the healers while doing as much damage as you possibly can".. don't you think?

Okay. Got it! :) But just going on what it actually means, you'd think a better phrase would have come about that makes more sense in conversation. But that's just how I see it. Or rather, hear it.
