Not misinformed at all. You will have to use new armour and weapons..there is enough threads about this on here as well as on websites

New weapons and new gear like legendary gear and weapons dude. Go look at the bungie video where the guy opens a chest and a ghorn comes out so no you are very miss informed.

You haven't been here threw the other two expansions where they said " you will have to use new gear and weapons to beat Crota". TTK isn't part two of destiny its still an expansion.
