Let's go Bungie. Mentors, ninjas, anyone... Someone prove to me that that I'm not wasting my time and money. If I buy TTK I will have spent about $140. I've played Destiny for hours, I've supported Bungie for years. Yet new fans can get nearly everything we've received for about half the cost that we paid. What are the loyals getting as true compensation? In-game rewards won't cut it.

Sure, but new players have missed out on all the content that has come and gone. At least, that's my understanding. I haven't even played it since October.
-
Are you implying that the in-game content is worth all the extra money being spent?
-
Edited by Vicex: 7/8/2015 11:28:43 PMIt's certainly a part of the game's experience that those who choose to purchase/play the game now will never be able to experience. Is it worth the listed amount? I don't know, I personally don't value the game at all. However, it most certainly is a component. Though, how is this different from anything? It doesn't matter what it is, cars, games, consoles, whatever... typically after a few months to a year the price on the same item you bought at release is substantially less. That's just economics.
-
Here's what you don't understand. Year one players got to play for that first year. We had to pay a premium price for it. But we paid for it. As anyone knows, software depreciates in value a lot over time. Because newer software is what is most sought after (arkham knight, for example) while destiny sits on a shelf, collecting dust. And bungie made an edition for newer people, and made the price right to make the game relevant again. Just so the game can be sold along with arkham knight.

Edited by IILoftyII: 7/8/2015 7:23:26 PMBut have you done the math? For $80 you can now obtain a copy of Destiny, its first two dlc, The Taken King and more. That's funny because Destiny is still worth at least $20, the first two dlc are still being sold for a total of $40 and currently the third dlc is being sold for $40. That's $100+ worth of content that new supporters can get for $20+ less. Now think about the fact that our continued support is what gives Destiny its value. If it weren't for us, those who paid the original prices and spent hours playing the game, Destiny would be worth even less. Where's the real appreciation for that?
-
The thing you're not grasping is, we as gamers pay more money to play games first. How would you feel coming into the game fresh and everyone is leaps and bounds above you? You would want to catch up. That's what the pricing is all about. We payed a premium price to play it first. Newer players aren't able to dance on their sparrows. We were. they won't have stories about spending hours shooting blindly at a cave. They won't be able to get the year one triumph emblem, we will. And some have blacksmith shaders, and red ghosts (myself included). New players missed out on a year of playing a fun game, and that's what we payed all this money for. To meet new people, play raids, talk about gear, post in forums, and become fans. And this is just bungie making things easier for new people to jump into the game. But there is one thing newer guardians won't have. The experience of the first year. So, if you still want to whine about not getting something for being a year one player after reading this, I'll walk away from you, disappointed that you feel the need to be entitled to something you're not. Just be satisfied, and grateful you get anything at all.

Edited by Akaiga009: 7/8/2015 8:13:36 PMActually, I have done more math than you have. Let's fit Destiny, TDB, HOW, TTK, and the year 2 expansions (assuming they cost the same as TDB and HOW) that's about 190 bucks worth of stuff. Now if we plug those numbers into an MMO model, if destiny was a FREE to download game, but required a monthly subscription, you would pay less than 8 bucks a month for 2 years. (190 ÷ 24)that's less than bargain basement MMO's. Shoot, WOW is a sub fee of 15 a month on top of buying the expansions. Are people bitching about WOW? I also rounded up the prices of the game and expansions to make sure tax was included. You might have to give or take a couple bucks depending what sales tax values are per state in the U.S. but the numbers are solid.

Edited by IILoftyII: 7/8/2015 8:58:19 PMI don't even know where to begin with you. Should I start with the fact that the final version of Destiny is not an exclusive? It's not premium. We didn't get early access. We purchased the game. What's difficult to understand about that? We didn't pay for Destiny to "play it first". We paid for the game to be paid on the day of its actual release. You act as if the original copy of the game had a large label that read: PREMIUM. Haha. What a joke. Look at your reply. You're pulling outside info about something almost entirely separate from the game itself. From the topic itself. For starters, Destiny doesn't even fall under the MMO catagory. I don't know where you're headed but you're definitely missing the mark.
-
Yeah, we paid for the game at full price at release. I know its not premium. What I'm trying to articulate to you is that software depreciates in value over time. What about consoles? You aren't going to pay 400 for a ps3 anymore. Its because there's newer hardware on the market. Its the same concept for videogames and technology as a whole. We paid in full to play the game first. Now that the software has been out for almost a year, you bitch at the fact that newer people have to pay less for software that's almost a year old? The fact that you think this is a problem is it's own problem. You also said that destiny isn't an MMO. You're wrong. It has online multiplayer, it has RPG elements, and it also has FPS gameplay. The fact that you CANT PLAY this game without an internet connection confirms this. This is the point where I walk away. I get your point, its just your argument sucks. And I refuse to argue with someone who can't grasp basic concepts drawn from examples to make a point.
-
Edited by IILoftyII: 7/8/2015 9:49:44 PMTake a deep breath. Now do the math again. You want to talk depreciation? Destiny's three dlc are currently worth $80 total if sold separately. Just the dlc. Let that soak in. Now think about it. Contemplate it. Know it. Become one with it. Is your body ready? Good. Now take it and get lost Sorry bud. We can't take you seriously anymore P.S. Bungie themselves don't consider Destiny an MMO
-
Okay, I'm going to put this as simply as I can, because the idiocy is very strong with you... If you preorder the legendary edition of the taken king on the PlayStation store (I don't know about the Xbox live marketplace) you can play the current destiny build (the base game, TDB, and HOW) that's 60 bucks. Given that the taken king MSRP's for 40, means that 80 dollar price tag you mentioned is irrelevant. And therefore the digital content that's worth buying (not the standalone DLC currently on the PlayStation store) comes bundled with the next DLC, and clearly defined where the value of the dlc currently sits. Only idiots would buy the standalone DLC, knowing there's more on the horizon. Secondly, I don't know what you mean by "we" but I think we're the only ones talking. And lastly, what bungie thinks of their game, and what game actually exists are two separate things. Apples and oranges. Because you lack a higher critical thinking skill. You take information as what someone tells you, instead of looking at FACTS. Go home. You lost.

You're so dense. Your overconfidence is blinding you. Reread everything I've said and stop wasting my time
-
I've read everything you said. But assaulting my intelligence will get you nowhere I might be overconfident, but I'm not here to make an enemy out of you. I was just pointing things out that you have not considered. You getting up in arms, saying you can't take me seriously means you're unwilling to consider another voice or perspective on this topic. I know this because we haven't agreed on a single thing. Maybe I'm unwilling to see the other side of the coin. I apologize for insulting your intelligence when I did. I should not have resorted to that. I'll tell you one thing though. Attack me all you want. Say that you won't take me seriously. What will stand are the facts that have been presented. I won't reply if you attack me verbally again. It's just not worth it.
-
You admitted that you were the first to stoop to insulting. The fact that you would bother is icing on the cake. I'm not saying your opinion isn't valuable just because you're disagreeing with me. I'm disregarding you because you're going to extremes to prove your point
-
Well, you stooped as well. And I was the first to apologize for my actions... Yet, you still haven't. You have insulted me. Calling me dense.. Saying that you can't take me seriously.. Telling me to go home after you beat me over the head with the prices of the DLC. Not very mature, is it? But the whole icing on the cake thing makes it seem like I was wrong in the facts I stated, when I'm not. I went to extremes because you were so stubborn with your arguments, that it made it seem like you didn't care to see things differently. Just look at our conversation again. You will see it.
-
Edited by IILoftyII: 7/9/2015 12:33:26 AMI apologize for defending myself Not all of your arguments are wrong but you're still overlooking a few things. TTK is worth $40 alone. The Lengendary Edition for the bundle (Destiny and all three dlc) is $60. How does this add up even after depreciation?

kill feed Loft (rekt) Akaiga009

If this were on the left side of your game in the kill feed it would look like this... Loft (rekt) Akaiga009
-
Ignorance is bliss, isn't it? And by your maturity level, I would guess that you haven't had much experience with adult relations, huh? (I'm engaged, thank you) what's even funnier, is that the OP laughed at this, which shows his maturity level as well... Pathetic.
-
Edited by iInfinityLimit: 7/9/2015 12:32:39 AMHow does a joke imply my maturity? And how does engagement imply your maturity? As others can see if they read the conversation that you the one trying to declare maturity levels had begun to use insults. In my book your methods state clearly you have the lesser level of maturity. Now if my joke had insulted you I would like to apologize for it was not for that purpose. I would recommend for you to refrain from trying to determine maturity levels of others for the accuser is often he who is to be accused.
-
Thank you. I accept your apology. I see that it wasn't your intention to be immature, and I'm sorry for assuming maturity level trough a joke. I guess I need to take more jokes, huh? Lol. I really am sorry.
-
Hahahaha
-
I've never seen an argument heat up and die out as smooth as this.

We're a special case lol
