The sad thing is many will take this seriously as another sign of "white oppression" even though slavery has existed in every race, culture and country and everyone did it to each other...

So slavery in america had nothing to do with race?
-
Of course it did but there are many who believe it is only white's who enslaved when everyone else did to each other and themselves based off of race. The Spanish and south americans had african slaves (roughly 90% of the slave trade went to the Caribbean and South America during the colonial period.) The African kingdom of Mali had arabic slaves, many dynasties of China had southern "barbarian" (today's Vietnam) slaves, Egypt had slaves from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and Russia had enslaved what is now the modern day Ukrainian people just to name a few. All did so because of racial and cultural differences, even if they were the same race aka ethnicities. My point is that every race has enslaved other races because of racial and cultural differences but many only see it in terms of blacks and whites because of how hard and how long it has been pushed, hence the chessboard.
