No OT God was a complete asshole, NT God was kinda an asshole(letting your son starve for 40 days, who the -blam!- does that?)

 • Jesus once undertook a forty-day fast, during which he was tempted by the devil.

 • Fasting is when one refuses to eat food. A Christian/Muslim/Jew does so in order to symbolize their commitment to God. I don't think that this runs under the description of forcing someone not to eat for forty days.

 • You do realize that still in this case, he wanted to do it?

 • Hanging oneself with the intention of killing yourself isn't something that someone does by firstly asking another individual, "Do you approve?" Your question is un-substantive because of this paradox. Jesus had no intention of killing himself since the point of fasting is to humble oneself. Your question should actually be, "If my son wanted to fast, would I let him?" To which I would respond, "Certainly. I would gladly let him. Self-humility is very admirable."

 • Letting your son starve isn't humane either. If you're gonna refuse to eat and not get any nutrition for 40 days you're an idiot.
