Oh no you mean a company that wants to make money has found a way to trick your brain into buying more of their product! Whatever shall we do! We must stop this practice of businesses making money and make everything free!!

  • It has less to do with demonization and more to do with education. You should at least understand how the marketing techniques work.

  • I know how they work I'm not a sheeple I can think for myself and those that can't can continue to live with their ignorance. I have tried to educate people time and time again on many subjects like this and I'm only ever met with resistance. So I'm done and you all should be too. There is a reason the saying ignorance is bliss exists. I choose to now embrace others ignorance and simply ignore them and I live a happy peaceful life.

  • That's a rather fatalistic philosophy. I'd much rather believe that some person will see this video and give it some thought. Even if it doesn't happen, I've at least made my point as best I could.

  • You didn't sorry. The point I'm making is that no one actually cares how they are being taken advantage of anymore. They just see something shiny and new and they want it. It's the shut up and take my money generation because they think they have money. When in reality we all have less in our bank accounts than we ever had before. Just because we use more zeros than we used to doesn't mean our money is actually worth anything.

  • Well, 8 people liked this post. I'm inclined to think that some of them gave it a little thought.

  • You do realize the size of the community you are trying to reach right? You won't even reach 1% of them. And the ones that liked your post are like me and already understand and they are simply acknowledging that you have a point. Which you do but sadly like I said no one cares. When I use this phrase it simply means the vast majority not literally everyone. Just to clarify.

  • They started 50 years ago when they were using subliminal messaging in everything that sold anything, and product placement in movies and TV shows today. Thankfully most of those ways of advertising are being outlawed. But 50 years and it still exists and we all know about it and still no one cares. But like I said I agree and I agree it's shady but what business model isn't shady anymore?

  • Well, let's look at what Bungie is doing specifically. They are combining the addictive aspects of an MMO with a watered-down version of a normal campaign. This means less content for a higher price. Now, let's compare the amount of content per DLC to other video games. Whether you compare it to an actual MMO (I.e. WoW) or a single-player campaign (I.e. Skyrim), it falls short. You are being sold less for more, and the operant conditioning effects make it even more lucrative. Whether you are a rabid fan or an extreme skeptic, you can probably agree that HoW was relatively small, and TDB was extremely overpriced.

  • But none of that matters. Why? Because people will pay it and not care. We live in a society (no matter where you are) where new rules. It doesn't matter what it is whether it's the latest expansion or the newest iPhone. People never cease to amaze me when it comes to spending god awful amounts of money on stupid shit. It doesn't matter what the company does to promote something to take your money because people will pay even if they didn't use psychology on you to do it they will pay to have new and Shiney. It's all about that "oh you don't have this?" Moment.

  • I saw. It wasn't a contradiction, but a simple explanation for what you were saying. This is a public forum, so people are probably seeing our conversation.

  • Considering that each time you or I post it goes to the top of the forums they will. It was just a playful jab that started it all and I hope you accomplish your goal in a way that satisfies. I'm just a voice of reason wandering aimlessly at the moment. It's just unfortunate that most people in these forums will ever go beyond the 'my gun is better than your gun' posts.
