  • I don't apply cognition and intent to inanimate objects. I don't consider any THING to be good or evil. For me, those judgements and labels are reserved for what a person or people do. A deliberate action by someone can be reviewed and deemed "good" or "evil", but a physical object with no brain, no ability to think, no ability to act on its own? No, it is neither good nor evil. It has no intent, no conscience, no agenda. It exists to be used and when it is used, it is the person who uses it and what they do is what should be judged.

      • As an American who has been raised during the most recent conflict in the Middle East, I have been conditioned by military video games and various media outlets to associate the AK47 as a weapon used by terrorists or other no-faced bad guys. While it may not be a purposeful to do so, every time the weapon is shown with one of these groups, it reinforces the mental connection between the two, and makes me associate all ideals of the group to the weapon, making the weapon seem inherently "evil".

No weapon is inherently evil. Or, at the very least, no weapon is any more evil than any other weapon. Weapons reflect the intent of their user. They are an extension of the wielder's desire to kill.

          • it's the person that wields it who intends to kill that is evil, but there's no denying that a wielder often defines a gun in the eyes of everyone else. examples: the AK47 is often associated with irregular troops in rebellions, terrorist groups, and Third World countries. the reason is that all of these favour the AK due to the fact it's reliability and simplicity make it perfect for those without military training and no knowledge of Firearms. the MP5 is the opposite: a "good guy's gun", because it is used by SWAT and special forces, people who save lives and catch criminals. a lot of this was thanks to the Iranian embassy Siege by the SAS, who used MP5s. the Desert Eagle is often reflected as a vulgar show of power, used by bad guys who want to show dominance and crave attention. it's appearance makes it desirable to the Gangster or thug who wants to be noticed. how many rappers have fantisized about shooting someone with a Desert Eagle? the same can be said about many Iconic guns; the M16, the MP40, the Colt 45. etc. people kill people, but the crowd that use a gun often give it a new definition.

                    • There's nothing inherently evil about an inanimate object. It doesn't have the capacity for that type of thought, as it's not a living thing. It is merely a blunt instrument that, depending upon the views of individuals, can be used for good and/or evil. And the perception of good and evil is entirely personal and situational. Thereby, an unliving, unthinking object is neither good nor evil. It merely exists and serves the function it is designed for, regardless of moral perception.

                      • Inanimate objects cannot be evil. You do not blame the car when a person gets drunk decides to drive and murders a family of 4.
