It its core, its nothing more than drawings. I never understood why people get upset over the whole anime vs cartoon thing. The only difference is the country of origin.

The definition of cartoon necessitates a young target audience. While some anime are geared toward such a demographic, most of it is more mature. What anime is technically, is animation, not cartoons.

Novels vs comics.... Still a printed medium. Not to mention, its November.. Check the date of the replies.

Knowledge should always be welcome. Yes it is still drawn, but it's simply animation. 'Cartoon' is a term to describe many western animations. It doesn't accurately encompass anime.
