Plus when Goku dies he just comes back stronger and with better line art than before

Wrong, if it's only goku and vegeta. Piccolo isn't there so dragon balls shouldn't work

Actually, that isn't entirely accurate. Piccolo isn't linked to the dragonballs anymore because he fused with Kami during the Imperfect Cell arc. Dende is the new guardian of the Earth.
