It's your own fault, it's pretty obvious it wouldn't drop if you didn't have space, but even then if you didn't have space it wouldn't appear on the right hand side of your screen but it would say in the bottom left where It says what everyone else got, you probably just misread it

Well that was unexpected, but the icon did show up on my screen on the right, and no one else got the fatebringer in the fireteam
