Yippy, more businesses closed due religious based refusals to participate in facilitating gay marriage ceremonies. Then we can get some laws out right banning any "discrimination" against gays. After that we can go ahead a take away tax exempt status of any church that doesn't bend the knee and marry gays in their churches. Horay

I'm an atheist. I could care less if gay people marry. What I do care about is the federal government exercising powers not given to it in the constitution which would be reserved for the states.
-
SCOTUS specifically used the constitution for its decision. are you trying to say you know the constitution better than the supreme court?
-
Yeah, considering the ten amendment has nothing in it about defining marriage, and yesterday they rewrote a law that was written and passed with specific language because lawmakers "meant something different" which is also unconstitutional.
-
so then why don't you do something about it? sounds like you think you have a solid case.
-
Sure I'll bring all the way to the Supreme Court and... Oh, nevermind.
-
You're right, as soon as it pointed out the court wrote legislation instead of performing its actual function of interoperating the constitutionality of legislation they'll just say, "Your right, we didn't even realize we were doing that."
-
if you have a case you have a case. doesn't matter who is hearing it.
-
Im Irish, so USA constitutions are something I don't have a great deal of understanding of.
-
There already are laws banning discriminatio. Well, in my country. And rightly so!!
-
That's their prerogative to refuse service; if they'd rather be shut down than deal with deli deferent people that's their problem.
"Entitlement to tax exemption depends on meeting certain common-law standards of charity," wrote the Court; "namely, that an institution seeking tax-exempt status must serve a public purpose and not be contrary to established public policy." To receive a tax exemption, the institution must "demonstrably serve and be in harmony with the public interest."
Slippery slope is not so slippery.
