The MCC was made partly to bring fans up to speed on the Chief's story for Halo 5.
So, yeah I would definitely get it in your position. If you have $5 left over after buying it, be sure to pick up the Halo 3: ODST expansion for it! It'll get you familiar with Buck, a member of Fireteam Osiris in Halo 5.

Will Reading Halo Fall Of Reach and play Halo CE at the same time make the story hard to understand?
-
Nope. CE is pretty stand alone in the story it wants to tell.
-
What should i play first: Halo 3 or ODST?

Edited by Mr Admirals7044: 6/20/2015 10:52:09 PMHalo 3: ODST is in an interesting spot in the Halo timeline. For contextualization's sake, play through Halo 3 first. Although... I've never heard of anyone playing through Halo their first time in chronological order. Okay, so if you want to play the games in chronological order you go: Halo CE Halo 2 (Heretic - Metropolis) Halo 3: ODST Halo 2 (Arbiter - Great Journey) Halo 3 Halo 4 Otherwise, you can just go through it in release order: Halo CE Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo 3: ODST Halo 4 Whichever way you do it, you'll get the same understanding. Of course, the jump from Halo 2 to ODST and then back to Halo 2 may be a bit jarring in terms of gameplay. I'd think if you set a Universal Controller Scheme for all the games, you should be able to make it past that fine. Let me know what you think, I can also answer any more questions about your play through.

Alright thanks! By the way, do you think there are any books i must read to understand the story and what happens between the games? Or are the games enough?
-
If you want to understand what's going on in between the games, definitely read: Nylund Trilogy Halo: The Fall of Reach (Starts in 2517 and goes all the way up to right before Halo CE starts) Halo: First Strike (Starts immediately after Halo CE ends and fills in the gap between CE and 2) Halo: Ghosts of Onyx (Part of it takes place after Halo 2, but isn't directly tied to the games) The books certainly aren't required, but they do provide helpful characterization and bridge some gaps left in the storytelling. For example, four of the main characters in Halo 5, Blue Team (John-117, Kelly-087, Linda-058, Fred-104), are in the Nylund Trilogy and fleshed out.

Ok, but the books after Halo 2 arent that neccassary?
-
If you're looking for the bare minimum to get the full story of the games you haven't played yet, The Fall of Reach, and First Strike should be good.
-
Thank you so much for all your help! Have you read all the books yourself?
-
I have. I own all of Halo's story content.
