If you feel like you have some form of social anxiety that is preventing you from taking initiative and talking to people I suggest a psychiatrist or some form of therapy. I had a mate that was in your position, and I came flat out and told him that he needed to see someone professional about his predicament and in a few weeks it really helped him to get started.     I've wanted to talk to a psychiatrist or therapist for so long. But I don't want my family to know about it, so I can't.. Thank you for your advice though.

  • If you don't mind me asking; is there any reason you don't want your family to know about it other than the "typical" (for lack of a better word) feelings of shame and such? Family are there to help you and get your life started so you can live the best one possible.

  • I've always done things on my own. I practically raised myself. I've never felt that I could rely on my parents for even small things. And I feel like my family would just think badly of me for it.
