Outside Sources Justifying the Bible's Authenticity and Prophetic Statements: Biblical Source (literal translation): "But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother" (Galatians 1:19, ESV). Non-Biblical Source (literal sync): "Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrim of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James..." (Antiquities, Book 20, Chapter 9). Biblical Source (metaphorical translation): Background: Before the following statement, Daniel had a vision (Daniel 8:1-14), and he had no idea what it meant (Daniel 8:15). So God instructed Gabriel to tell Daniel the meaning of the vision (Daniel 8:16). When Gabriel came to Daniel, Daniel fainted, and Gabriel woke him up (Daniel 17-8), stating, "As for the ram that you saw with two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia. And the goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king (the first king to conquer and control both the Medes and the Persians)" (Daniel 8:20-1, ESV). Non-Biblical Source (use any textbook preference): If you are a history scholar, you would understand that the biblical description describes Alexander the Great (Daniel 8:4). At the height of his power, he died unexpectedly (Daniel 8:8), and his kingdom was given over to his four generals (Daniel 11:4), who "were not his descendants," yet they did not become as powerful (Daniel 8:22) as Alexandar. The Bible gives further prophetic verses conserving the Roman Empire, the Greeks, the Medes and Persians, the Gentiles (me and you), the Jews, Cyrus the Great, and more. As far as historical substantiation goes, the Bible has never been wrong.

That isn't any way to justify any kind of historical action. I could say that there's a round fruit. There are many fruits that could fit this claim, so how do you know which"fruit" the bible is talking about.
-
Edited by SSG ACM: 7/7/2015 1:00:22 AM...but we're not talking about fruit. We're talking about history. The "fruit," as you put it, is about the historical accounts that the Bible is accurate on.

Oh really, how do you conclude that the bible is true?

It's content.

ITT SSG explains the OT.
Fixed. Oh...and: Recontexualize isn't a word. I wonder how many people fell for that.
No one here is an authority on what is a real word. Every word is made up. We aren't in a collegiate environment, so we have that option to talk how we want. Nice try, though. Elitism is not something a Christian should exemplify. I mean, I didn't see Jesus correcting anyone's grammatical errors.
Besides that, "real words" are defined entirely upon which dictionary you're using. So, according my Websters published in 1996, lots of commonly used words in 2015 are "not real words".
Indeed. Jesus corrected everyone on everything else.
Indeed. Jesus corrected everyone on everything else.
And being like Jesus mean's his humility, not his knack for pointing out flaws. It doesn't mean being a weekend Christian warrior on a two-bit game developer's forum. You act like the type of guy that prays in public i.e. the worst. You are not Jesus, nor are you a religious authority, and if you are, I pray for your followers because you are obnoxious and preachy. You don't have a personality outside your faith. It's time to go home, SSG. You really are not welcome on these forums.

Edited by SSG ACM: 7/5/2015 9:17:25 PMAs a Christian, aren't we to point out the flaws? Especially so that those who don't believe may be able to at least see the truth concerning actual theology.

It's hard for someone to say "Look at that man who is full of love when you greet adversity with "That's not a real word". Not very cheek-turning.

Tell me. Is it easier for an atheist or a Christian to call someone a fgt? And answer this. Isn't what I have recently stated true?
-
You can sin all day, brother, but the Pharisees were wicked for their hypocrisy.
-
That doesn't answer any of my questions.
-
I call you a fgt easily because I don't have any fear of a divine law smashing down on me after death.
-
That doesn't answer any of the questions still. Are you avoiding them?
-
I answered the question. I call you a fgt easier as an atheist. Perhaps you are just using poor wording?
