I'm not sure why you'd think having those things would make a difference. Would you live a little longer as a 34 in lvl 34 PoE? Yeah. Except it still wouldn't be one hell of a difference since both Trials and PoE come down to overall teamwork. The guns and higher stats wouldn't make someone a shit ton better. That's like expecting someone who's inaccurate as hell to do well with a really good sniper b/c it's a good sniper..
