Minus the fact Snake could feasibly not try and run inside for the rifle.
Aaand his CqC is second to none.

I changed the scenario, I never played MGS (wish I did) so now Samus goes inside to grab her gun instead

Ok, maybe that was a bad predicament, I just wanted to emphasize why neither had their weaponry, and it's because neither had time to prepare
