There's a reddit thread about it. Taken are (speculated to be) a race of controlled/brainwashed Fallen, Cabal and maybe even Guardians. Included a picture to show concept art of the "Taken."
Also, there are Cabal corpses on the PvP map Cauldron; a [b]Hive[/b] fortress under the moon's surface...
The word Taken in it makes all of this make even more sense, as they are [b]taken[/b] and controlled by Oryx.

Dumbáss, this is for the new DLC, not currently what we see in the game. This particular piece is early concept art for Destiny, its actually in the Bungie.net galleries. You do know that ideas an story telling all have some form of concept art before its even made...right?

No shit they have concept, but this one was never explained at all. There was never any sort of indication that Fallen and Cabal are allies. This is literally the only time Fallen and Cabal are together, and like I said this is definitely concept of zombified/brainwashed Fallen/Cabal. Fallen and Cabal are not allies. There's no sort of hint at it or anything.
