I did it with randoms on the first try, It took 15 minutes to kill him
I used a word of Crota not upgraded, 331 two to the morgue, and the last rebellion
We basically ran circles around the map and killed him.

My team did the same thing but with machine guns as our main weapons

we too tried the shotgun approach but found that to a very hit and miss strat, i take it that is your first skolas kill? nicely done on the 15 min kill you were lucky.

No I've killed skolas each week lol. I went out immediately to the left and used my shotgun to kill captains that tried to run up and kill us so my team mates could snipe him. When it got too hectic we ran around to the right side and shot him there. I didn't damage the boss with my shotgun at all only WOC. I was a defender Titan so I was using my bubble to give my team mates WOP and cover and really dismantling the mines is easy enough that you can just run out and do it.

^this! One thing that i have found is that my teammates would dps on skolas 80% of the time. I'll provide WoL in the beginning and we'll all unload on skolas to break the bond on the first servitor. From there, we constantly rotate around the map. Ill switch to gjallarhorn no matter what the burn is that week. Ill always have a shotgun. I provide bubbles with gift of the void, shotgun any captains, and use gally to take out hoards or dps skolas across map. When he's close to summoning mines, we make sure hunter has the essence. When mines start, we get the essence back. And he goes to take out the mines while we continue to dps. And we rinse and repeat.

ah right! that makes sense, i have my found verdict 365 which destroys captains :)

15 minutes on one boss. Multiply that by many wipes. Realize how un-fun the sequence can be.

Just have one person with a void shotty for captains and you will be ok
