Exotic shards are going to be a problem for some hardcore players
So this morning after gambling on engrams for one specific item I was able to upgrade every exotic thing I have and now have 9 spare shards that I won't have any use for going forward. I will only start to collect them as I dismantle duplicate and triplicate exotics and unneeded stuff from engram gambling sessions.
I propose that xur be able to convert one shard into 6 motes of light. So if you have enough to buy 4 engrams and don't get what you want you can roll a 5th time for free. This wouldn't break the current exchange rate for strange coins for motes of light and exotic shards. Adding more economic exchange to xur will bring a whole new meaning to the word xurned.

I've got about 10-15 of them. And only about 3-4 exotics that I don't have which is the only thing they are good for. So yeah they need another purpose. Like 3 for 1 etheric light. But that's also growing useless.

I have nearly 100 pieces of legendary gear......why is such a huge problem to let us just buy or trade for the stuff. I've been playing Far Cry 4 and don't miss destiny at all. I have Fallout 4 per ordered but will be getting the taken king......if it is as bad as the other destiny garbage I'll have no trouble saying goodbye, I've already got one foot out the door!

1 ReplyJust like every upgrade item, i use to have over 400 accendant shards and energy each, over 300 radiant shard and energy each, now i have over 70 etheric light and over 50 exotic shards. Just store them on the vault

1 ReplyEdited by Bacon_Tetris: 7/14/2015 5:23:39 PMThe thing is, you'll need the exotic shards to ascend your current exotics with the next DLC. so you may have 45 shards but you'll need them to upgrade your 62 exotics if you have them all. This will reoccur as more DLC's get released, so you'll always need them. I would rather that then have another worthless currency.

Spent over 350 motes trying to get the robes to no avail, but of course this week he trolls me and sells them. So now I'm dropping motes again on helmet engrams and still no ram. My guess now is that he will have the ram next week. I don't want this excess of exotic shards and wish there was something to use them on. Some kind of exchange like you suggested. Maybe even exchange for a decent amount of glimmer/xp, treasure keys, trials coins/boons? Some kind of new raid/nightfall buff where you swap exotic shards for a chance% increase on exotic drops

I like this idea, I'm hurting for motes right now after buying 23 engrams looking for a specific helmet without getting it. I've got dozens of spare shards and nothing to use them on.

First lets translate you say hardcore I say no life Bungie already rewards you guys and girls the best. Us more casual players have to work like crazy to keep up. I guess thats the penalty for having a job and family and a real life.

Why can't we trade materials for exotic shards. Wouldn't that be amazing to trade in 300 spirit bloom for exotic shards.
