".....from the creators of HALO and the company that brought you Call of Duty....."
Uhmm aren't both of those mostly pvp games? ( halo had what a 10-12hr story on each game?) what did you expect, witcher 3 ? Skyrim? Fallout?......

Well the very first HALO which was being developed before Microsft got involved was mostly one big story with lots of shooting and lol chapter titles. The PVP element was an after thought. The bad thing about reaching perfection on the first try is there is only downhill to go.

We all did it......

Halo's storytelling is pretty dang solid.

Outside the games, books, movies, short stories, fan sites and lore ....but the story in the game...how long did it take you to go through the single player story in the game ?

Edited by Madman: 6/5/2015 5:55:41 PMLength is irrelevant to storytelling quality. There are short films online that can blow your mind in 2 to 5 minutes. Ernest Hemmingway wrote a 5-word story that will break your heart. That said, the overall narrative and writing in any Halo game far surpasses anything Destiny has displayed thus far. They're neglecting to provide even bare essential details. The plot we do get is very thin and often irrelevant to any established main theme (of which, there are precious few, and they are very superficial). There is zero character development. Really, there isn't much in this game for me to invest myself in than great gameplay mechanics and amazing artwork and music (we miss you, Marty). At this point, it's apparent to me that Bungie doesn't care about telling a story with Destiny at all. They don't want me to get invested or immersed in the world. They just want me to jump into a generic arena, fly around, fire bullets, and toss space magic at alien faces. Why? Because they're aliens, and Guardians have one answer for everything we don't have an explanation for: Relentless murder. Honestly, there's more intrigue in the opening cinematic to Halo: CE, which Bungie created over a decade ago, than anything they've done with Destiny. And I have to believe that Bungie's doing that intentionally. And that means, all of that marketing/promo speak on the back of the box that the OP broke down? It's an utter lie. And that sucks, because I was promised and had hoped for a new amazing cinematic storytelling experience because they'd amazed me with their work on the Halo games. And Destiny bears almost no resemblance to that Bungie.

You are absolutely right about the quality of the story.....my point was( that obviously I didn't explain well) was that while Halo had a great story, what kept people playing halo was the pvp side, once you finished the story (and then again on hard) it was the pvp that kept you playing, it was the clans that deej always talk about , it was the leaderboards, the tournament s.....not the pve side of any Halo game. So of course they are gonna focus on pvp , they gotta make it last....I myself hate and suck at destiny pvp....got myself the witcher 3 for my single player fix ;)

I never looked at it like that before. I never did much with Halo PvP since I was so bad at it, haha. This is one of the best arguments I've heard as to why PvP gets the focus it does. I've always just been looking at it with the mindset of someone who played a lot of DDO.
