Gymgoers of the Flood, I require your assistance.

So I would like to start getting into a weekly routine for going to the gym. I'm trying to lose a little fat and gain a little muscle, but not too much. I just want to know, what is some good advice for someone who has never really used a gym before?

      • Swim laps if there is a pool. By the time you can swim a 300 without stopping youll be in shape. If u cant swim, hit a stair master with two free weights 5-10 lbs each. Cardio is the way to go if u just wanna slim down n not bulk up

That's awesome man! There's definitely a few good suggestions here (eg: seeking out a personal trainer, developing a regiment). Depending on your goals and current level of fitness there's a few different ways you want to go about this: 1). Determine THR (target heart rate) 2). Determine current weight, height, and body fat index 3). Determine your daily caloric intake (how many calories are you consuming?) From here you can start to make solid benchmarks and goals (eg: drop 5% BF, gain 20 lbs muscle). These are vital figures when looking to improve physical fitness. Granted you're not morbidly obese, it's generally a safer bet to add mass BEFORE cutting too much fat (you're going to gain a little when bulking up). Workouts vary from person to person- research whatever kind of routine works best for you. Stay disciplined! • Cardio is great for dropping weight weight training is great too. Find a buddy who goes to the gym and make sure they are supportive of what you are trying to do. Or spend a little extra and get a trainer at the gym.
