Now, first let's make one thing clear. Destiny is not dead.
However, Destiny has had little to no competition in the past year. But with each game release, a portion of the players quit, and a portion of that portion comes back.
In the next 6 months, we will see -
*CoD Black Ops 3: With confirmed Zombie mode and Rictofen.
*Fallout 4: With real open world gameplay and a successful franchise of RPG FPS mechanics actually done right.
*The Elder Scrolls Online: It'll steal die hard MMO lovers and fans of the series.
*Star Wars Battlefront 3: ENOUGH SAID
*Halo 5: A lot of players hyping about this one.
*Arkham Knight: A lot of people said I forgot it lol
These six games won't kill Destiny, but I have a feeling it'll take half its player base (30% of which will just play multiple games and come back occasionally), leaving behind die hard fans who can't break the addiction. What do you think Bungie? Can you handle the competition?
For those wondering why I'm insulting so many people for being idiots and trolls, there are two reasons.
Reason 1: I literally wrote in bold and underlined the fact that you can play several games all at once. Those who read the post noticed this and are awesome. Those that didn't read it are making fools of themselves lol
Reason 2: This beautiful insult generator is savage and too entertaining! Try it out!

Oh, another on of these posts ....

Saying new games are going to kill a game that's about a year old is silly. If the game survived a year with any semblance of dominance, it's more than done its job. On to the sequel!

You forgot Mass Effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For warhammer fans, Death wing is also coming.

People will play it for a month, and leave. It's been like that since modern warfare 2. There's literally not contest between call of duty and destiny, and after advanced warfare, I'm not shocked. Fallout 4 isn't due until AT LEAST the fall of next year. How can a game that's a year and a half out compete? ESO is going to be great, but I feel as thought I will run hand in hand with destiny as far as playstyle go. For a few months, destiny might see a drop in players for this game, but it won't be for long. That Starwars game is going to suck. I've watched threw videos on it, and I won't even waste my time. Halo 5 is going to have less content than destiny, and, unfortunately, 343 Industries completed killed the entire series, AFTER kicking the original writers for the series about a year before 4 came out because he "wasn't willing to move with the times." Let's face it, halo 4 was BAD. With the comet coming in fall, plus two DLCs after that, and then destiny 2 set for the fall of next year, I don't think there's really going to be much of a contest for this game. Look at it; for over a half a year, this game has gone completely uncontested. There are more players on this game daily than any other game for consoles right now, they have the Longest DLC chain on the market, and are only making it longer, they have (for a competitive game) the most content on the market (more than CoD, Battlefield, and literally any other FPS game. Not many other games have players logging in upwards of 1,500 hours. Let's all be honest, for as much as you think it's going to die, Destiny is going to take the lead of "most played game" for the next 8 years, AT LEAST.

And with TTK, millions will come back :3

2 RepliesIt will be long dead before the end of the year. Poe is already boring and were hardly a month in. It hardly makes you wanna play once youve been through once and as we have raided that much even that is getting old. I cant see where going forward they are going to keep the game fresh. Simply adding more missions wont cut it. They should focus a bit more on making pvp a bit bigger maybe add more game modes to make it interesting. Ive played this game since the start and i hope at e3 they pull something out the bag but i really doubt they will

1 ReplyEven with that "proof" it's still your opinion. And believe it or not, your opinion isn't fact.
-
1 ReplyNo Mans Sky, Harmony, The Division... They'll be getting plenty of competition soon.
-
ESO? I'm still playing Skyrim lol

3 RepliesYou don't need new games to kill Destiny. Bungie doing just fine killing the game on its own.

19million registered players Don't think so

Fffk all those games. Mad Max.

Out of 20 game titles played. Only one 98% completed. Destiny.

Well we don't know what Bungie gives us with the taken king yet.

1 ReplyTBH, all that Bungie/Activision care about is, will we buy the new content? If I were to play religiously for the next 4 months, then not buy Comet/King/Destiny1.5/whatever, I'd be costing them money. If I quit now, only to buy the new content and play it for a half hour, they make the most profit. My point - I think Destiny will lose players over the next few months. I think it's lost players over the last few months. I don't know how many though. But I mostly don't think it can be classed as "dying" unless the fanbase does not buy the next release. Personally, I've played too much and need a break. I expect I'll be back in September, and possibly a nightfall or two in between if my friends call me up in an evening. I think there's a fair few Destiny addicts whose life would be better if they did the same, but that's something each of us must decide ourselves.

The only thing that needs to die is dying threads. Been seeing them for years now. Only games that ever die are EA games and that's because they love to shut down servers. Destiny will be around for a decade or more
