Do you agree?
Without religion, less of the world worlds conflict would have occurred, be occurring and eventually occur?

The middle ages would have been much less murderous
-
Amen, wait damnit! Exactly xD

Edited by SSG ACM: 6/3/2015 2:32:48 AMI agree (to an extent).
Even if humans didn't have religion, we would fight for political or economic reasons.
-
Will there be les conflict?! YEAH.. Even it's only a bit, the world will be a better place
-
That's ignoring the good it does too. If there were no cars no one would die in a car accident.
-
I see your point. I do see that religion can bring hope and happiness, but there's no point having religion if you have radicals that cause conflict.. If we didn't have religion there would be no terrorist groups or vendettas.. No religion is just part of my ideal, if the world unifies we can share resources and focus in scientific research..
-
No point in having cars if you have dipshits that crash them. Religion has it's place, and removing it would do more harm than good.
-
Do some actual research on religions and wars, you think World War One and Two were started because of religion? Or the civil war?
-
I know many religions have done.. Lots of conflict between ISREAL and MUSLIM States.. Afghanistan and Iraq I think we're mainly started due to radical MUSLIM groups.. Conflict in Ireland with the it's who were CATHOLIC I think..
-
But it's really such a small number compared to tribal wars, wars for land, resources or just to conqueror
-
Yes but is there conflict caused by religion?! YES.. Therefore even if it was just stopping a small amount of conflict, the world would be a better place :)
-
Things that cause conflict arent automatically bad , love causes heartache and conflict should we get rid of it because it can cause pain reguardless if it is also capable of producing immense joy ?
-
Can it really be compared to the murder, warfare and even genocide that religion creates? Yes religion does have positives and I can see them, but if war was gotten rid of then humanity could actually develop and thrive, instead of killing ourselves off
-
You seem to think religion is what makes people want to kill each other . Idealistically people are inherently good. The problem is that just isnt reality . Evil things can be commited in any name . Now what you need to ask yourself is if evil really exists , in that answer youll find an ultimatum .
-
Yes evil exists, of course it exists wether a person is born evil or nurtured the wrong way.. Conflict will always happen as long as people have different views and opinions to one another.. Religion is t the only cause of war, but the fact there are multiple religions means they won't always see eye to eye.. In the hands of radicals this causes conflict, and as long as there is religion there will also be religious radicals
-
I don't think you see the full implications of what your saying . Let's get rid of religion because it causes conflict , any view other than your own is gonna cause conflict . If your gonna start getting rid of anything that is differing in opinion throw out government and law as well . The ends doesn't justify the means let alone who is to decide what's the greater good ? Not to mention religion is where the idea of good and evil are explained and where we get most of our moral underpinnings .
-
Fine, you're right.. I don't want to argue.. In fact I wish I could be religious, that way I'd have hope at least.. Shame my minds too scientific
-
Ahaha there are plenty of scientific based believers . Look up Francis S. Collins head of the human genome project . John Lennox mathematician the list goes on they aren't hard to find . The question of God has always been a philosophical one not a direct question of imperical evidence
-
Good work.
