  • He only was trying to be president for a select group of Americans. Which is just something Im not a fan of. I really really don't like him for the person he was.

So you like fickle Presidents? There's a difference between statesmen and politicians. Politicians seek to any legal means of obtaining majority or popular vote, which isn't bad, it just leaves the party thinking as fickle and becoming as fickle as the people request. Statesmen think with the mentality, "This is right because [reasons]..." They stick to a standard of truth from the beginning and are expected to never deviate from that truth (e.g., Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Ronald Reagan, etc).

No I don't like Reagan the man. He only wanted to benefit white christian conservatives, and gave a big -blam!- you to the rest of the country. He lied about drugs, prolonged marijuana prohibition to get his own way, the man denied aids because he did not like homosexuals or black people. Doesn't sound like a very good guy to me. I like presidents that get things done and who speak for the whole country and not just HIS agenda. People like Lincoln, Washington, Teddy, JFK....Reagan is not a part of that list. Why would I like a president who only panders to people to get a vote? That's obama and I dont like him one bit. Yes presidents should have convictions but not when you let those convictions distract you from other parts of the country and other issues. He was a strict Christian, drugs are bad, gays are bad, so according to his values its OK to ignore them and lie about them. That's not a good thing. Being a person of strong conviction only works if you are in for the betterment of all Americans not your friends and your peers. All those men you listed wanted ALL of their peers to be noticed and be heard. Reagan only wanted his agenda and his values to be heard. Do you see the difference? Mandela was a great man who stood up to discrimination, Washington was a champion of the little guy, Lincoln wanted nothing more than to keep ALL of this country together, even the black hating southerners. Reagan only wanted to appoint his agenda, he clearly did not care about facts or others as long as he made this place more christian and conservative. How is a conviction like that a good thing???
