Hi Neck,
I can guarantee you that Bungie actively investigates network manipulation and other forms of cheating. We will continue to monitor game performance for people abusing the system and enforce our policies. As mentioned in this week's Weekly Update, we've already dealt with a number of players from the first week of Trials of Osiris. Rest assured that we will continue to do so.

I don't doubt that Bungie is actively checking for cheaters, but the way they monitor for them seems to be such a waste because by the time they actually catch the people who really abuse the system, it's only because those same people think they're invincible and continually repeat the same cheating actions. Bungie's auto-detect software can miss them altogether when these same cheaters use the various methods available that people are currently using (checking bungie.net and quitting before the match, IP flooding, lag switching, etc.) and mix it up instead of using just one method. Even the newest method (another brought on by bungie's lack of in-game LFG or matchmaking for certain activities)... they go on these lfg sites and put in peoples GT's/PSN ID's and make some dumb post that gets a lot of responses. Then the people who are on the winning team get flooded with messages because these cheaters falsely used their name and set up an activity for people to join. The winning team gets flooded with invites and messages, and it's all because Bungie insists on putting the responsibility of finding groups onto random sites that don't store a person's GT. I'm sorry, but for a game that BRAGS about making friends, being social, and becoming legend.... it sure makes it difficult. I can't think of a time when a game bragged about being so much, yet required everyone to find their own way to make friends and be social with everyone. It's like it actually goes against the idea of all the principles the game should stand for (sorry, that last part was a little off topic, but it's the truth - until Bungie makes in-game LFGs or matchmaking, this new cheating method thats impossible to detect will continue while bungie cracks down on the people who use network manipulation to win). Anyway, when these cheaters IP flood 2 games, then quit 1 or 2, then play a few in a row just to throw the auto-detect system off, how can these people who actively cheat (instead of play legit) get caught? A lot of them aren't stupid. They know how to circumvent the rules and they're gonna keep doing it. The real thing that needs to happen here is the rest of us who will never get to see content we paid for (the lighthouse), need to be given access to these new areas. I'm not asking for a handout.... but I am asking to be able to visit the first NEW planet/space that I paid for without having to go through all these dumb hurdles. And I know this will get complaints, but the way around this is simple.... allow the people who go flawless access to a "room" that only opens once you hit the 9 wins. This room can be the treasure chest room. These elitist people still get access to a place that the rest of us will never see, and they get access to the rewards it holds. The rest of us don't feel ripped off because a lot of us actually just like to explore & we'll still have a new planet to visit, and we won't feel like we're being cheated again. It is very simple.... but the way Bungie keeps setting up everyone to fail, will only allow these cheating methods to continue. Come on Bungie!! You always make one thing in this game, then another feature to go against it. It seems like too many people have a hand in the bad decision making. You are starting to make good on a lot of mistakes, but it seems like it's just trail and error here... new features are usually bad until so much complaining happens that you find the right way to fix it, then another bad way comes along in place. If you want this franchise to be "legend", work with EVERYONE.... don't cater to just one group or another. Find creative ways to make all types of gamers happy. Almost everything with H.o.W. was great.... but then the trials and the lighthouse were just a bad idea from that one guy who wanted to make life difficult for most of us. It's bad enough the xbox players had to deal with PSN getting exclusives up til now, then you make a whole new planet that can only be accessed AFTER you get lucky enough by avoiding dying, cheaters, lag, disconnects, lfg, etc? With all that experience, you should know better. It seems this is just to make it tougher until the next dlc that makes some stuff easier and more things difficult. Get on the same page.... make ALL areas accessible for paying gamers. Stop hiding away new planets for the elitist gamers (or better yet, the other people who cheat and get away with it). Open the tower's upper area, put an in-game lfg area that we can go to and enter our names into, or at least put signs up so people can stand in a certain area that lets others know "I'm looking to do raids" or "I need to run P.o.E.". And for heavens sake.... put a barber shop in already!!! It isn't that hard to make an NPC that you talk to that links to the beginning creation screen which allows you to change your guardians if you want. Even if you can't add facial hair in yet.... at least making an NPC in the tower that allows you to change your look whenever shouldn't be too hard. Even if you get stuck with a race, you should be able to change hair colors, styles, etc!! There are so many things that need to happen that it's just sad. Even a tower NPC that just speaks the lore so we can understand this mess of a story better. I like my games with cutscenes that explain why I'm doing things, not just people talking in a loading screen.... this is 2015 and that kind of practice is unacceptable. Come on guys, you can be better AND do better. I still have faith!!
