Halo was too hard for the newer generation. That is why 343 is slowly distorting the franchise by turning it into CoD. There was actually a video a guy did that perfectly explained this. Kids just want to pick up a game and feel like badasses when they can kill people easily. This is why there is no skill based matchmaking and a ton of overpowered abilities and weapons. Destiny pvp is meant to hook the new kids by being extremely easy to master and play. Bungies Halo was not a pick up and be just as good as everyone else sort of game. You had to study the maps, the spawn locations, memorize the weapon timers, know the fastest route to drive a warthog across the map with a flag. Destiny holds your hand with these. It tells you where and when ammo spawns and now even who got it. The weapons all have massive aim assist making even the worst pvp players good enough to get a kill or two, the radar is always on telling you that people are near you, and they try to make everyone feel like a winner with rng when you lose. It's similar to the battlefield vs cod group. Everyone that I know that doesn't play bf won't play because it was too hard to pick up and be good at it. Only a few people put in the time to overcome the learning curve and be good at an incredible game.

Yes, excellent. It's why games die now so fast, noob friendly. You cater to casual players who aren't even going to play that long and burn long time fans who leave because there is no more skill curve. Good examples being gears of war and halo.

I also posted this video as a perfect example for halo. This guy describes how 343 destroyed halo for old halo players to try to secure the new generation http://youtu.be/Dh_WOeu3q-k

Yea it's sad, I don't play videogames near as much since the decline of competitive multiplayer. Maybe that's for the best lol.
