Don't try to fight Skolas unless you have a Ghorn.. Not being elitist, but it's pretty much the only way to take him down.

Just because everyone in the videos you've watched so far is using a Gjallarhorn doesn't mean it's required. Gjallarhorn isn't a strategy, it's just a weapon.

though you are right, take it from someone who fought Urrox. he has a heck of a lot of health, the Gjallarhorn is the hardest hitting weapon, and it still barely did damage. you dont need it, but it would most definately help

I agree, it's the best launcher by far, but this guy said it's the only way and to not even try without it, which is just silly talk.

I was running around with Hunger of Crota on that boss, and i was dealing so little damage, it was ridiculous

Do you mean in story? Because in story mode we utterly crushed that dude before any fallen comrades could teleport in. Not one of us used a Ghorn. Heck, I used the sidearm we got from the queen. He goes down a little ridiculous. If he is in PoE I have yet to run across him in the two games I have played in there so can't speak to his toughness there.

Then I have no clue. Have not faced him yet. Have only done the Lvl 28 on two characters once each to check it out.

Completely ridiculous in my opinion. In no way shape or form is it required. Yeah, GHorn lays down serious damage and it's the same conversation we've been having for many months but it's been proven time and time again that nothing in this game requires one specific gun.

Having a Gjallerhorn isn't a strategy, it's a weapon. A strategy is something that any team of 3 can use to take down a target. Having a Gjallerhorn is simply just the best method at the moment ebcause until a strategy is known that works best it is better to simply nuke the dude lol.
