Genuine curiosity. Can someone explain to me how farming the chests is an exploit? The loot is randomized. Its obvious that they were meant to be constantly replayed i think.

With the exploit, you are essentially looting 2-4x more chests in relation to the time you're investing. This messes with Bungie predetermined rate for legendary and key drops. People who really really take advantage of this will get all the end game gear faster than everyone else. I don't think that is a problem but the general feeling is that Bungie does.

The exploit is the fact that you can leave the area and grab loot from the same chest multiple times.

No, hence the exploit. As long as the key timer is active, you can leave the area and come back and grab the chest again.

Ooooh. Thanks for the clarification. Wasn't aware this was happening. Seems kind of harmless though IMO.
