  • I'm still struggling to get it all down too. It's a lot to learn and the implications are so far reaching.

  • I found this website called codeacademy.com which is super useful for learning. I just did some of the more basic course over and over again until I was a bit more familiar with the terms, then just try and build stuff either for clients or just on my codepen account. You got anything you are working on?

  • I'm extremely impressed with your understanding and use of the languages in the loading icon. I hope I can get to that level soon.

  • I actually went through their entire course. I've also been working in codeschool.com and teamtreehouse.com which are both paid subscriptions. I have to say that treehouse is the better of the two IMO. I'm currently working on a website for someone as a favor and as a learning experience. Otherwise I'm at a loss for ideas or challenges to take on. I really wish I could work with some actual developers just to watch their methods and how they build and get inspired. I think what holds me back most is knowing there's so much potential in these languages but not knowing really where to start. I'd love to work on some projects.

  • well if you want me to look at any code then pop it on codepen (or what ever). Im always looking for new stuff. I actually recently paid to go on a week long HTML course which really helped. Similar lesson plan as treehouse tbh though. But it was nice to be able to see people coding and ask questions, even the really silly ones Id be embarrassed to ask online lol Im building a website right now for my work (its not my main job but its what I want to do full time eventually), but its not great. I have to use a program to deal with the backend checkout process so its quite hard to style anything so far Ive got quite a few projects on codepen now - http://codepen.io/keefyboooo/

Once I start working on some more projects I think I'll do that. Yeah haha it is always nice when someone ELSE asks the embarrassing questions. I eventually want to do this full time as well. I work as a network technician so I've only really worked with switches and routers. The world of programming is a whole new step for me. I'm trying to work my way through the full stack and then specialize in whatever I find that I enjoy more. That project sounds pretty serious. I am currently working on a gallery site where an artist can sell his wares. Nothing too crazy but I'm unsure how to best add a checkout/purchasing process. I think I'll use a link to a third party like Paypal to handle it. You've got some neat stuff up there. I need to go ahead and create a codepen account just to get some inspiration and to post whatever projects I work on.

  • Yeah paypal checkout buttons are great for small scale stuff. You can literally make the button for a product so no back end coding required. Mine is at shirt store for a guy at work. I'll post a link when it's actually got something on it, all I've done so far is the header/nav bar lol I heard something really cool the other day about coding, something along the lines of an 20/80 split, as in you only need to know around 20% of something to do 80% of the things you'll ever need to do. So don't feel held back of you don't know something or feel the way you are doing it isn't the right way

  • Yeah the gallery site only has a header, nav, and footer. I also added some basic media queries to make it responsive across platforms. I'll post a link also when it is looking a bit more in shape. Man, I can't tell you enough how uplifting that is because I really get overwhelmed and discouraged at times. If you ever want to play some Destiny, I play on the XBONE my gt: TragicSerenade

  • Same here, I tried doing a course on php but it blew my tiny mind and I gave up. I learned enough to do a simple contact form and require header/footers etc My gamertag is the same as my name. I will probably be on over the weekend but I'm from the UK so not sure what times you play?

  • I'm normally a weekend warrior myself. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone and get online usually after 7pm.
