  • Why does someone else's spirituality bother you so much? Your tone and the things you say is very unkind, and unnecessarily so. You lash out as if you personally have suffered because of someone else's beliefs. If that's true, I'm terribly sorry. But to write off every single who believes in something more than themselves is pretty harsh. Obviously, religion has no place in matters of the state. And it's unfortunate when people use their religion as an excuse to do wrong to others. But people do bad things and religion is a convenient scapegoat. Groupthink has the potential to let peopld excuse horrible evils and exists whether or not religion is the seed around which the group is formed. Cheer up, mate.

  • No. Not God in the traditional sense. I'm just saying, I hope there is something out there that can truly appreciate the vastness of all that is. It's not emotional nonsense. It's facts about our universe that the human brain is incapable of fathoming. I'm just saying how unfortunate it would be if there was nothing higher than human understanding. Even if what most people thing of as God is some extra-dimensional race of beings that can experience the vacuum between the nucleus of an atom and it's outer shell and also the beauty of, say the Oort cloud.

  • So then you don't believe in a god, you just wish there was one.

  • Meh. Not a god. But something with greater capability than human senses. Atheism seems to reject the possibilty of anything... "more". Like, what happens when you die? How do you know for certain that your consciousness is completely destroyed with cell death?

  • So you take the world as you want it to be not as it actually is. You must be a bad procrastinator, convincing yourself whatever it is you need to do isn't that important.

  • No I don't procrastinate much. But when I do have time to just think, that's what I think about? Why do you have to be mean to someone just because they like to consider what exists beyond the limited borders of his/her own life. I work and pay bills but that doesn't mean that I can't think about things other than that?
