PSA: NO ONE DISMANTLE COMMENDATIONS!
Until the 19th!
This will allow you to get new packages with new gear! Don't spend them now because you'll just get Dark below items! Wait and be patient!

4 Replieslots of peeps saying they are not sure they want the new weapons and armor. it would be foolish not to wait. the new armor will be higher level and the weapons can be rerolled, while if you redeem them now, the armor will have to be ascended and weapons cannot be rerolled. easy decision. wait 3 days.

Just got the dead orbit ship and my first shader (bittersteel) from 4 packages. Don't care about getting new gear earlier

I guess it depends on if you want the shaders or not? I'm not rly interested in shaders so I'm keeping mine to hopefully lvl some factions to get new packages maybe a legendary engram into a lucky exotic drop? Long shot I know :p

Won't they be available to drop anymore after HOW launches? I have 13 DO packages at the postmaster. Will it matter if I open it now or after the 19th? EDIT: I might as well wait til the 19th because... 1. Potentially I would still get on the 19th whatever I will be getting today if I turn over my DO packages now... but there might be a glitch of some sort that will give me HOW items. No harm in hoping. 2. I would reserve all my commendations and choose to level whichever faction offers the best HOW weapon/gear.

I spent all mine to level up as many factions as I could to within 1 bounty of levelling so Tuesday after HoW drops I can have multiple packages from different factions

2 Repliesactually, their is one advantage to using them now over later; you get more commendations. this means you get more rep now than you can later, and if your hunting for shaders, this will mean you can have a better shot at shaders now rather than later. also; if your 32 already, you gain little from running with new gear from the start, so not really a head-start. but if your not 32, then it will be an easy way to get to, obviously. it depends on what your looking for, really. also ascendant mats are 1/2 a mote or 250 glimmer, so getting them is'nt so bad anymore. in fact, they'll be particularly more valuable as easy motes for re-rolling the new weapons into optimal perks. because you'll only need 1 of each weapon now, and repeats can be dissmantled into mats, which can be converted into motes, which can re-roll the old version for a "new" gun. so its really about what your hunting for. me? ima go spend 'em now.
