I think they should just buff exotics and then remove them from the crucible

Why not? Do people really need to use the cheapest possible weapons to compete? The only exotics I use are heavy, using an exotic primary like vex, last word or thorn is just a sad way to play
-
Well, that'd be boring.

Why? It would be fair

Exotics allow for all sorts of wild and crazy playstyles and loadouts that can capitalize on the strengths or cover the weaknesses of different classes. It's just more fun. Red Death allows a Radiant Skin Warlock to instantly recover health for more resilience. TLW can be equipped with a Sniper to act as a personal defense weapon if you're caught out or moving around the map. It's really the Special Exotics that are too underpowered to warrant the Exotic slot. As for fairness: so long as weapons are different in anyway, be it Rate of Fire, Impact, etc., some will be objectively superior to others in certain scenarios. If it wasn't Red Death, it's Three Little Words or the new FWC Conduit w/ Feeding Frenzy and Reactive Reload. If it isn't TLW and Thorn, it's the new Up the Ante with a 0.73 second TTK and 12 rounds in the cylinder. Using suboptimal weapons is a good exercise, as is using UU Pokemon in an OU Tournament is as well, but no one is going to grant you a Knighthood for being fair and honorable in Crucible or Competitive Pokemon. Imho, only a handful of the Exotics are really overwhelming compared to their Legendary counterparts as of Update 1.2; Thorn and TLW for example. I can't say much about the Vex because I don't have it.

You just stated the problem. They grant the user huge advantages over others using the same type of weapon. Is it fun for the guy using last word? Sure it is, but it's not fun for the guy using up for anything against him.
