Dont work in the game industry but chances are your be a indpendent producer or get lucky and get picked up by a big company like activision

What's bad about the game industry itself? My family in particular keeps telling me it's a bad idea but I have quite allot of passion for gaming.

Yes and these are things I would need to learn. It will be difficult, but if I don't try I won't get anywhere in life.

Yes try it see if you like it and if you dont go for something else there nothing wrong with switching majors its the career your going to have for probly the rest of your life so make sure you enjoy it alittle
