Really and who would pay for a team of developers and testers to build ten years of content without payback in a predetermined timeframe? I've worked in the software business for over 20 years primarily in the delivery side and I can tell you unequivocally, no one would pay for work that didn't have a return. If they did, I would give them all a serve for wasting money.
You need to wake up... Business does not work like that. This is a product and there is a ten year strategy and there will be a present roadmap to get there. If sales drop the strategy will end/develop and we won't have any dlcs or comets or anything or it will drastically change. Therefore why would business expend lots of money up front if it wasn't a guaranteed return?
Further to this, technology changes, trends change so the strategy may look like "A" for a while but because of the way the market moves around it develops into "B". The way not to lose lots of money is to not develop all of "A" unless we are sure we need it.
