I'm not sure about some of the abilities proposed but I do like the idea of Faction-specific talents. It would give more reason for leveling your factions up, and give you something to level at end-game. I would rather that all talents be universally useful however, and class-ambiguous. That way, a certain faction wouldn't become "The Titan Faction" because people find that it has some OP talent. Or worse, everyone picks the same faction because it has the best talents for every class. Or maybe no-one bothers to learn the faction talents because they're not that useful, except for say Warlock that gets, again, an OP talent. Maybe instead, it works like so:
FWC's 3 talents: FWC Reputation gained in PvP without class item FWC Reputation gained in PvE without class item Arc Damage/Resistance Increased in PvE Dead Orbit's 3 talents: Dead Orbit Reputation gained in PvP without class item Dead Orbit Reputation gained in PvE without class item Void Damage/Resistance Increased in PvE New Monarchy's 3 talents: New Monarchy Reputation gained in PvP without class item New Monarchy Reputation gained in PvE without class item Solar Damage/Resistance Increased in PvE
With this, it would be a way to boost your power in PvE, but also not make PvP unbalanced. I could easily imagine someone being frustrated because they are being killed due to a skill they don't have access to until they've reached Rank 3 in a certain faction. It would also mean I can use a nice holographic Warlock band in PvP without losing out on Dead Orbit rep. Switching Faction should maybe reset your progress too in unlocking these talents, so you have to choose an allegiance. As DeeJ said on the Twitch stream, "Pick a side". Decide which element you want dominion over and that will be your "role" in this shooter "trinity". On the flipside, perhaps that's a terrible idea since right now everyone would pick New Monarchy in this example since Icebreaker and Gjallarhorn are both Solar damage. Maybe the talent would be Solar Resistance only, not damage? Anyhow, I'm done rambling. As for a list of skills you've listed, I think perhaps they could be unlocked through other means.

  • All you would need is to double health. Making every encounter possible. Make everyone op and no one is op. Seeing all those affects would make me more on my toes in pvp. There are games where people go 20-0 without effort. It would make the game really fun. If someone has unlocked it, then make a pvp mode for people that have. Let's call the destiny pvp we know as X and the new one as Y. In X, all those new moves are disabled. In Y they are all enabled. So no one can cross over and kill with ease. If people are running around with mobile WoD and voidwalkers teleporting to their nova bomb position, pvp would be more diverse than ever. It would inspire Bungie to make some changes: -Bigger maps -More health -Abilities are the priority so I feel different than the guy next to me(rather than guns as a main focus and our "diverse" and "varied" abilities extend to just a grenade, melee, and super) -Exotics that manipulate those new abilities -Longer PvE missions with even more diverse enemies -Abilities with light requirements(giving a purpose to reach high light such as 320) -Slight bonus for maxing armor, recovery, or agility Help me add to this by making a list and also give feedback

  • Damn, you don't see ninjas everyday but when you do see them they are way too OP. Seriously how is such an OP comment like this even fair? Seriously though, I would love to see this implimented, it would give more meaning to the factions. Something else I would like to see, while slightly off topic, would be the class items themselves giving some sort of bonus

  • I don't mind a side of reality with my morning coffee actually, it helps me lower my expectations

And with the Solar Damage your talking about... A slight increase to Solar Damage probably couldn't hurt, If it's ever too much you could split the properties of the Solar Damage perk. Maybe something like this: 1a) Solar precision damage 2a) Solar splash/explosion damage 3a) Solar ability damage or chance for a random crit with Solar abilities 4a) Solar weapons have a chance to cause a very short burn effect 1b) Solar melee/body shot resistance (Direct) 2b) Solar spash/explosion resistance (Indirect) 3b) Solar precision damage resistance (not sure if PvE enemies deal precision damage)

Thank you for responding. I'm a little displeased with your solution but I understand why it works better than mine. The unique talents you came up with are definitely improvements to Destiny but they do not quite fulfill that subclass itch I've been having since day one. I'll try to keep the rest of this simple because I know you have better things to do. ----- When I play Destiny on my Sunsinger, I'm exactly like 80% of the other Sunsingers: Solar Shield, Radiant Skin, Gift of the Sun, etc. not because I want to but because perks like Solar Wind and Song of Flame just do not work as well as the others. I came up with these specialization perks to greater expand the roles and customization of each subclass. Having all these Perks as exotics wouldn't achieve the same thing as extending the subclass skill tree unless there was some way to equip two exotic armor pieces at the same time. Sunbreakers are great but why would I ever use them if I have Heart of the Praxic Fire or Voidfang Vestments. But one problem with equipping multiple exotics is I would use Sunbreakers with Heart of the Praxic Fire which would be all out chaos. Even if wearing two exotic armor pieces meant not being able to wield an exotic weapon. ----- I side-tracked a bit... Anyways, I have an itch for Destiny, and that itch just cannot be cured unless I can further develop an existing subclass or gain access to a new subclass. I don't need both, just one or the other or some other third thing. The amount of subclass customization I have access to at this moment is barren and few.
If you have time to spend, here's another concept I was just working on updating. It's just some Third Subclass ideas and how it could work: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/108452270/0/0
I agree with you. I'm a big RPG fan so I'd love for each class to have 3x the talents it has right now. More talents, more choice, more strategy, more depth. I'd even like to see more abilities too (like hold and charge up the melee button to channel a special ability and release it to throw out a kind of "mini-super" that has unique properties). This perhaps would disrupt some sort of balance Bungie is trying to strike between shooter and RPG though... All I know is that when Destiny embraces its RPG side, it really shines... Like the RPG-style boss mechanics in the Raids for example IMO are way more fun than the more shooter-esque Strike missions.

I think Bungie couldn't upset the balance if they just added another row or column to the subclass skill tree. Just a handful of new abilities. A mini super sounds cool too and I was almost describing that. Maybe be able to activate your super prematurely and get a weaker and less efficient version of the super. And a charge Melee is a wonderful idea, except it would activate the basic Melee on first touch... Maybe to fix that, the Melee would activate on the bumper's release, but that could be annoying for some users. At least it would solve the Shotgun-Melee problem as players would have quite the delay when activating a Melee attack. Anything that gives me more combat options and scenarios, I'm down for. Subclass specializations could work but my main fear is the word subclass is already used making any specializations into Sub-Subclasses. So I guess just adding new talents would be a better idea.
